Signs That Your Dog Is Overheating and What To Do About It
Fun in the sun is great for both you and your dog, but it does come with some risks. Dogs have higher body temperatures than humans and less ability to cool down. Dogs typically control their heat by panting, but they can’t always pant quickly enough to maintain their temperature in hot weather. Dogs can’t sweat like humans, they only have sweat glands in their nose and feet and thus they lack the ability to cool themselves off and thus they can quickly overheat.
If you miss the signs that your furry friend is starting to overheat, it can be deadly. Make sure you know how to identify the signs that your dog is overheating and that you know how to quickly and correctly cool off your pup if this happens. Noticing your dog is overheating early could save your dog’s life.
